Gerry McLaughan sent this in. I'll let him tell it in his
words!
Ford Anglia 1949
(All steel, bodywork completely standard)
It's a 1949 Anglia that I have recently purchased. It was built in
Scotland UK. The original frame has been discarded and a new frame
created using box section tubing. The running gear comes from a variety
of sources. Front suspension is Triumph Vittesse but the brake calipers
got their start in life on a 240 Volvo. The live rear axle was also
sourced from Sweden's best, being a 240 narrowed by about 12". It's
hung on a fully adjustable 5 bar setup, with adjustable coilover shocks.
Polyurethane suspension bushes all round.
The motor is a 2 litre, OHC Ford item, mildly warmed over, backed up by
a 5 speed box. The external sheet metal is completely standard with
the exception of a steel roof insert complete with sliding sunroof,
liberated from a passing VW Golf. Wheels are 10x15 on the rear with 3x15 at the sharp end.
Being channeled some 4"over the frame, the car sits very low. The car was put together some 5 years ago and has been well used over
that period, still on original paint job! |
