Home Builder's Corner
Leonard Broich's '28 Buick

Here's something you don't see everyday.  Leonard Broich sent these pictures in of his 1928 Buick Sport Coupe he found about 1-1/2 years ago. Looks like they're making some progress.

How's this for a before and after. The engine has now been prepped for installation in the Buick. Leonard had the engine painted and detailed in the color they will paint the Buick.

Although this is Home Builder's Corner, no one can do it all. Leonard has had some help from L & L Street Rods in Kasson, MN. Here you see the interior floor. The original wood has been replaced with 2" square tubing.

The trunk area has been rebuilt from scratch and the body work continues on this classic. Hope to see some more pictures soon.

The next picture shows the left rear fender being widened 2-1/2" to allow for the wider tires that will be on the car.

This picture shows the completed fender with '39 Ford teardrops frenched in.

The first photo shows the left rear fender completed, and the next shows the completed right side, with new running board, and both front and
rear fenders widened.

Lots of work going on that can't be seen, like the new gas tank for the TPI engine has been fabricated to fit behind the seat, the new seat from TEAs has arrived, along with the fabric for the interior, and for now our plan is to complete the body work.

Next, the left front fender will be widened, a new fuel door cut into the body side work, and then the hood will be straightened and fitted.

The car is coming along pretty good. The trunk is installed along with electric lift, electric antenna is installed, brake and gas pedals are installed, seat has been mounted, hood is being straightened and readied for cleanup, the rear end has been relocated and centered in rear wheel wells, etc.. The picture shows off the new billet specialties wheels, and new 275R50x17 inch rear tires and 255r50x17 front tires...It actually is beginning to look like a car, isn't it?? It stands 64" tall at the roof line from the ground, so you can actually look over the car.. this is about 13 " less than when it was stock.

This  picture shows the brake and gas pedals as well as the steering column in place, and the dash cut out to install the instruments and radio.

Here is a picture of the newly customized rear bumpers and frame and  the drop down license plate holder.

Lennie just sent in a picture of the frame for the '28. Freshly painted and assembled and waiting for the body!

Lennie just sent me a new update on the Buick. It is now painted and wired and will soon be in the upholstery shop. If you attend the Back to the Fifties show in June, you'll probably see it there!
